ABOUT  US

Our mission is to provide our customers with the best, mouth watering barbecued food they'll ever eat. Most of our meat is slow smoked at low temperatures to ensure juicy meat that is not over cooked. Our desire is to make sure that everyone at the "party" has a great experience. John Olds, Bob Russo and Harry Wing have mastered this art and would love the opportunity to share it with you. All cooking is done onsite.... we love to interact with the guests and give them a "tour." Be advised not to get too close to the heat or we might just put you to work! (just kidding!) When you hire us for your function.... Our Barbecue is Your Barbecue!

My  Story

Barbecuing has been a passion of mine for a long time. It started with a trip to Houston, Texas, about 15 years ago, where I experienced Smoked BBQ for the first time and fell in love with the taste of slow smoked meat.

I came home and bought my first smoker…. the bullet type. One was not enough, because many of my friends ended up loving it as much as I did. We had many a backyard barbecue's.

Before I knew it I had Barbecues all over my backyard, 4 Smokers and 5 Grills. I attended my first BBQ school in Little Rock and I was on my way. One school didn't seem to be enough so I went on a journey seeking out schools, reading every book I could get my hands on, and spending hours reading articles on the Internet and of course visiting some of the best BBQ Restaurants in our great nation…. I'd say I was hooked.

While perfecting my barbecuing craft in the confines of my backyard, more & more people found their way into the confounds of my BBQ sanctuary. I started getting phone calls from people I hardly knew, asking me how to BBQ this or that. I loved it. Then customers from my regular job ask me if I could come by their work place and BBQ for their lunch. With 10 Weber's in tow, I had my first “job” with a school district maintenance department. Tri-tip that was said to be the best they had ever had. I then started cooking for other customers. People just loved the meat.

I soon found myself doing Company Christmas parties and other events, so I decided to upscale some. I gave away most of the equipment in my backyard to family, friends and a local fire department. I bought two JR Enterprise units, a large Smoker and a grill. I had convinced my wife that if I get rid of all the smokers and grills and replace them with just two JR units we'd have more room in the backyard. I was way wrong, these thing are huge….. but I love'em….

After years of talking about doing catering, with the encouragement of my friends, I went for it. I ordered my America Pride rotisserie smoker. It's a 26' long, 9' wide trailer unit. Along with two of my best buddies, Harry Wing and Bob Russo….BACKYARD BARBECUE began its journey, to provide the BEST Barbecue and Smoked meat you'll ever eat in Southern California .

I would love to hear from you,
